paintbrsA lot of kids love “Paint By Numbers” kits. You know the ones with a beautiful picture on the front of the box. Inside, you have 3 or 4 brushes, maybe 20 different little paint jars, and a board with numbers all over it – each number corresponding to one of the paint jars.

Then you just paint by numbers. You don’t have to be an artist. Just follow the formula, You can create a pretty nice painting … almost like you knew what you were doing.

Marketing is a lot like that. In marketing, you track your ads and your results – your numbers. Then you try something else, and track your numbers again. Then you compare your numbers, and keep doing what works better.

How to Give an Effective One Minute Introduction

Do you avoid networking events like the plague because you are filled with dread at the thought of your one minute introduction? If you have heard it once, you have heard it a thousand times; you only get one chance to make a first impression. Here are my tips for getting it right.

Your one minute introduction is designed to allow you to share specific information about you and your business. So you must develop a memorable introduction using word pictures so that people can envision themselves using your products. Those same word pictures also help when people are speaking with other people, your one minute introduction comes to mind and they are able to refer others to you.

You must develop your one minute introduction. You began by first, introducing your self; this should take about 20 seconds. The introduction should include your name, position, company name, a brief overview of your products, services and the type of clients you have currently. Second, tell them a story, this should last about 20 seconds, let them know what makes you different from your competitors, talk about the benefits of what you do, give a free tip or fact that will help people with what they do today or this week. Third, don’t be afraid to ask for the business, using another 10 seconds. Let them know what type of clients or customers you are looking for. Fourth, in about 5 seconds ask them, “Who do you know who needs my product or service?” Fifth, take about 5 seconds and say a “catchy tag line” to get you remembered, then conclude with your name and company. I recommend you take the time to come up with several one minute introductions, this way you can do something different each time you speak; this will also make you more memorable and set you apart. People will began looking forward to what you have to say instead of dreading you getting up saying the same introduction.

Once you have developed your one minute introduction, rehearse. Remember to be yourself and talk naturally this will keep you from sounding too rehearsed. Make sure you use a timer when you rehearse so that you will not go over your allotted time. Going over your one minute shows that you are unprofessional and people will only remember that you are the guy or the girl that went over during the introduction and won’t remember your business or what you said. At some networking events they time you and if you go over they will stop you and ask you to be seated and of course you don’t want that embarrassment either or be remembered for being the person who was asked to be seated. This leaves a negative stigma on you and your business. You always want to be courteous and professional.

Lastly, when it is time for your one minute introduction, Put down any papers and notes you have, flapping them about will distract people, its one minute, you can remember it, no need for notes. Always stand up and if you can move to an area where you can be seen by everyone. Remember to smile, speak clear and loud. A good rule of thumb is to project your voice to the person furthest away from you, don’t shout; but project your voice and make sure you are heard. Wear something comfortable and something that fits. Make sure your clothes are not too small or too big, this gives the wrong impression. Make sure your shoes are clean, comfortable and appropriate for your outfit. Most people tell me that they don’t have anything to wear and can’t afford to buy anything for one reason or another. For our business to be successful we can’t make excuses. Even on a low budget you can shop at Target or other stores and find a nice pair of black slacks with a solid colored shirt or blouse. Everybody knows that black always goes over well. Save the receipts and it’s a tax write off as part of your “uniform” or clothing expense. With black slacks you can vary the shirts and no one will know the difference. Don’t be afraid to wear a shirt or a blouse with color, nothing loud and obnoxious. But wear a color that looks best on you. Don’t know the color? Well think back to a shirt or something you wore and you got tons of complements on how great you looked in that particular color that’s the color you want to wear. Color is vitally important it conveys confidence and individuality.

Big Tip—you don’t have to use the entire minute, if you can get your message across in 30 or 45 seconds then great, deliver it and sit down.

The Secret Income of Multi-Millionaires

Have you ever watched television shows like, “lifestyles of the rich and famous, or cribs” and wondered or dare I say dreamed of what it would be like to live in a mansion, drive a fancy car and vacation wherever you wanted, whenever you wanted.

Truth is most people believe that only those who are talented like Michael Jordon, those who can sing and move like Elvis Presley or those who are born into a legacy like Paris Hilton are the only people who can live that type of lifestyle. Well, I go on the record saying that is untrue. I believe that I do deserve success like that and so do you. You see what I have discovered is that there are two types of income in the world. The first type of income is Linear Income; it’s when you trade time for money. Most people have to work for a living and when you don’t work you don’t receive a paycheck! Plain and Simple. For example if you clock in at 8:00am you start getting paid, when you clock out at 5:00pm you stop getting paid. Therefore when the work stops, the check stops—no income.

There is nothing wrong with having a Linear Income. It is considered to be an honorable form of earning a living. Some people earn great money, from a few dollars an hour to hundreds of dollars an hour depending on their occupation. About 90% of people around the world are accustomed to this type of income. Linear income earners must be physically present or “clocked in” to receive a paycheck. It is because of this that most people are not financially independent. Linear income earners can be laid off, downsized or fired at any time. As a linear income earner you have no control over what happens with your employment. Generally, the only way you can receive a promotion is if your boss is promoted or demoted. As a linear income earner you are not able to pass your job down to your children, grandchildren or great grandchildren once you retire.

Now, the second type of income is Royalty income also known as passive, recurring or residual income. Multi-millionaires know that the secret to creating true wealth is in creating Royalty/Residual Income. These are the Michael Jordan’s and Elvis Presley’s of the world; the business owners, professional network marketers, investors, etc. Their income continues to be generated because they did the work right the first time. Residual income earners don’t worry about “clocking in,” they can be absent for periods of time and still see consistent income from their business. When you earn residual income you can be in the hospital, in the shower, on a private plane, in Hawaii, or asleep and you will still see the checks in the mail or the direct deposit transactions on your bank statement. Wow isn’t that the Life!

Residual or Royalty income earners are the boss; they have total control, they own their life. Wouldn’t you like to be in that position? Where you own your life and are able to pass your business down so that it pays your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. That’s what Elvis Presley did, he had enough hit songs that his daughter Lisa Marie collects a “royalty check” from the record company every time someone plays her daddy’s song on the radio or downloads one of his songs from iTunes. She never has to have a hit album, or work for that matter; unless she wants to, because while she is shopping in Beverly Hills, drinking a cool drink on South Beach or sleeping—she is still making money!! Elvis Presley left his family a legacy. He left a ready made pipeline of income versus working a job until you retire or die and leaving your children with nothing but debt.

Now you may be reading this thinking I don’t have the skills needed to earn that type of income. So I am stuck. My question to you is? Are you willing to learn? Did you learn to drive a car? Learn to use a computer and email? Oh my gosh, I bet you even learned to be a pretty good parent. What Is Network Marketing?

Your Hidden Talent

Network Marketing is simply referral Marketing. It is not a business but it is a way of doing business. It is not about “get rich quick schemes” the industry is very much misunderstood by many people. It requires work, effort, determination, a positive mindset and the proper skills. Instead of paying large sums to advertising agencies to promote a product or service, a large number of companies prefer to pay independent business owners, distributors or affiliates to spread the word.

Referring is nothing more than doing what already comes naturally. Until I met Tom “Big Al” Schreiter, I didn’t realize that I had this hidden talent and had been doing it since I was about 5 years old. Think of all the earning potential that has passed me by!  His skills training taught me how to use that hidden skill and get paid for it. When you tell a friend, coworker or family member about a great movie you watched you are recommending or referring. Even though you didn’t know about it and didn’t get paid for it, that’s what you were doing, “naturally.” Network Marketing is about sharing information and making each other’s lives better.

How is income generated? When referred customers purchase products or services. That income grows exponentially when the people we refer, refer others, who in turn refer others, etc. In other words as the number of referred people increases, either by us or by those we refer; so does our income.  Then it begins to have a snowball effect! That’s the power of time leveraging, which is automatically built into Network Marketing. Success does not depend on personally referring large numbers of people, but rather in referring and teaching network marketing principles to a small number of people.

To give you a better understanding of how network marketing works and how it is also referral marketing: what if you had the choice of being given a million dollars or a penny a day that doubles every day for a month or for the rest of your life? Which would you choose? If you choose the million it can be here today, gone tomorrow. However if you choose the penny, in 30 days you would have $5,368,709.12! Just think about how much you would have as those pennies continues to double over 60 days, 90 days, 5 years, 10 years, etc. That’s the power of network marketing! This is why network marketing when coupled with a dynamic five pillars company and the proper skills training WORKS!

Network Marketing is rapidly becoming the number one way to do business for so many people around the world. It creates residual income, you possess full control of your life, you are able spend quality time with your children and grandchildren regularly and able to leave an inheritance for the future. It can be passed down from generation to generation and pay your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc. and you will never have to live paycheck to paycheck again! The Best part is you get the honor and privilege of showing and teaching others the skills to do the same.
